HUGO and Github Actions

HUGO & GH Actions - Step by Step

  • Go to GH settings - Pages - Build & Deployment
  • Then, instead of deploy from a branch -> deploy from GH actions
    • The previous step will create the file .github/workflows/hugo.yml
# Sample workflow for building and deploying a Hugo site to GitHub Pages

        uses: actions/upload-pages-artifact@v1
        with:
          path: ./public

  # Deployment job
  deploy:
    environment:

      url: ${{ steps.deployment.outputs.page_url }}
    runs-on: ubuntu-latest
    needs: build
    steps:
      - name: Deploy to GitHub Pages
        id: deployment
        uses: actions/deploy-pages@v1

Basically this configuration file is telling to run the last version of ubuntu, where HUGO will be installed (at version 0.108.0). Then it will install the dependencies and look for changes in the main branch, then deploy the new HUGO files.
